Marty Schmidt

Marty is primarily a studying self-taught pianist since his mid-teens, and composing music all along, theatre is what ultimately brought him to the stage. Performing his own music in original projects, all while refining his unusual 'guitar on keys' sound, where he is comfortable with everything from Elton John to Black Sabbath. Gravity Shift is a perfect vehicle to showcase the keys, vocals, and "guitar", in a band he calls "the most fun band I've ever been in!" We have hereby dubbed him: the Mad Hatter.

Evan Smith

Evan is a classically trained bassist who has always liked to play rock music. He spent his early days as a bassist/pianist jumping from band to band hoping to find the right fit for him. He now plays bass for Gravity Shift to which he has called the most "musically sound band" he has ever played in.

J.J. Payano

J.J. is a young talented singer, drummer, and guitarist. He loves music in every way, from playing in a classic rock band, to becoming the 2026 NC All-State timpani player. He has been playing drums for about 6 years, while singing all of his life. His favorite band is Led Zeppelin, while also listening to Black Sabbath, Greta Van Fleet, Rush, and to switch it up a bit, Kristofer Maddigan.
